I love when I enjoy a book and also learn from it, and that was the case with this work by author, Linda R. Caterine. "The Adventures Of Songha," take us on a journey through the eyes of a frisky, independent, yet adorable cat named, Songha.Songha is not your ordinary house cat, as she will be quick to tell you, she is a beautiful Savannah cat. What is that? Songha is half African Serval leopard and half domestic. What a combination. A wonderful story
Linda R.Caterine, a mother of four, loves cats. Her own cat inspired her to write this story.The Adventures of Songha, The Amazing Savannah Cat is a wonderful story of a Savannah cat called Songha. The story is written in the first person, in a diary- like style, that makes readers of all ages have direct contact with the cat and her life. There are eight chapters in this book and each chapter ends with a poem.There are beautiful black and white illustrations throughout the book. The cover image is quite attractive as well as the overall presence of the book.This book is enjoyable to read, it is educational and readers can learn a lot about the Savannah cat. A touching story of a mixed breed cat that is half African leopard. We see the cat through its life with its human owners and its wild side. After each chapter, there is a poem that basically reviews what happened. I thought the story was interesting, creative and cute.

Perfect introduction to the breed for children
I was attracted to the book for the subject matter, there are so few books on this new breed. But even as an adult I really appreciated the way the breed was presented. There was no sensationalizing of the "wild" heritage but clearly explained the Serval origins with a couple of pictures and then the domestic outcrosses also used to create the breed. There was great information on personality and characteristics of the breed that was accurate and attractively presented.Highly recommended!

Where Can I buy A Savannah Cat

The first litter of Savannahs was bred by Judee Frank in 1986, using a Siamese named Savannah as the mother cat. After a while, some other cat breeders got interested in this new hybrid, and they started breeding Savannah cats, too. As you can see from this process, the Savannah is a hybrid breed of cat. And then if they do mate, there could be problems with the kittens because the gestation period for a serval is 75 days, and for a domestic cat, it's 65 days. The original version of the breed standard was written in 1996, and it was sent to the board of The International Cat Association. So if you want to buy a Savannah kitten instead of breeding your own, you will have to pay a bunch of money.

Breeding cats are the most expensive to buy compared to pet cats except with the F1 Savannah cat generation that is so hard to produce. Savannah Cat Pricing . Why are Savannah cats so EXPENSIVE. The very expensive cats are F1 or F2 Savannah cats because they normally are produced in a small litter of one or two. Savannah cat price range can vary depending on the quality of the cat. We can speak to this since our male Serval cats are two times bigger than out female Serval cats.

Try making your Savannah cat do something that they don’t want to do and you’ll hear so many different pitch meows, people will think you’re either killing your cat or you have 10 different cats in your home. Although there are many cats that get that big, Savannah cats are rarely ever, if ever, over weight. But beware, as they adopt new pets easily at a younger age but when they get older, they are less inclined to do so. Mine lives with another cat and he gets along with her great, but show him another cat and he acts like he wants to kill it. Show... One night you might wake up and think a bird has gotten into your bedroom, as your Savannah cat sits their chirping away. Savannah’s get along great with cats and in a lot of cases even better with dogs. Then let say you give the item a twitch, your Savannah cat will spring backwards a good 4ft in the air. Eventually your Savannah cat will come up and sniff it, stretching its neck out as far as it can, keeping the rest of its body as far away as possible. So why do they rarely ever get a gut like many house cats. You can never fully know the size but from f1-f3 you can expect that they could get up to, at least, double the size of a normal house cat. If you think you have ever seen a cat jump, you haven’t seen anything yet. 5’8″ or so. While a full grown Savannah, heck even a year old one, can stand at you feet and within seconds leap right up over your head.
